Biography

Sermiyan Midyat was born on 2 December 1974, in Ankara. He is an actor and writer, known for Hükümet Kadin (2013), Hükümet Kadin 2 (2013) and Ay Lav Yu (2010).

While Sermiyan Midyat is continuing his education on Chemistry major at İstanbul University, he attended Ferhan Şensoy’s Nöbetçi Tiyatro examinations. That was his first step in theatre.

Between 2000 and 2006 he took place in Steven Berkoff’s “Kvetch” and W. Shakespeare’s “Timon of Athens” plays with Haluk Bilginer and Zuhal Olcay at Oyun Atölyesi. In 2007 he established his own theatre Oyunbozan. He won Best Playwright award with his first play “9 Ay Son Gün”, which he wrote, directed and played.

After Sermiyan Midyat acted in “Banyo”, “Pardon”, “Polis” movies, in 2009 he started a career as a film director with first movie he wrote, directed and played “Ay Lav Yu”. The movie won “Best Comedy”, “Best Director” and “Best Actor” awards in Houston, California and Boston Film Festivals. He also won “Best Actor” award in 2010-2011 Sadri Alışık Acting Awards.

He also wrote, directed and played “Hükümet Kadın” and “Hükümet Kadın 2” movies in 2013. He won “Best Director” award with the Hükümet Kadın 2 movie in Engelsiz Yaşam Vakfı and Düzce University Media Awards.

He is a writer of “Kalp Yarası” and “Limon Çiçekleri” songs.
