Biography

Orçun Sonat was born in January 1, 1942 in Samsun, Turkey. He was an actor, known for Garip Bir Koleksiyoncu (1991), The Marsh (1975) and Sokaklardan bir kiz (1974). He died on February 24, 2007 in Istanbul, Turkey.

Orçun Sonat entered the Ankara State Conservatory Piano Department after the primary school. After finishing the Kuleli Military High School and the Military Academy, he left the Turkish Armed Forces in 1969, where he served with the rank of Senior Lieutenant and passed to the theater. Lale Oraloğlu started the professional arts life at the theater. He played in the same theater for 4 years. In 1971 she produced her film “Lady Saloon” by Lale Oraloğlu. The first priority appeared in the second row, then the top rolls rose. He won the “Best Supporting Actor” award for his role in the film “A Girl from the Streets”, adapted from Orhan Kemal’s novel, in which he shared his main roles with Hülya Koçyiğit in the Antalya Golden Orange Film Competition held in 1974. In 1980, he became a partner of Oraloglu Theater again. In the following years he took part in television series. Like him, the theater-cinema-series actress married Selma Sonat and left. A daughter named Orsel and a boy named Selçun were married to this marriage. Then he married to Love Sonat. They had children in the names of Vuslat-Fatih Orkun. Orçun Sonat, Turkish Cinema and the theater’s master player, lost his life on 24 February 2007 at the Gülhane Military Medical Academy (GATA) where he had been treated for three years because of lung cancer. After the funeral prayer performed in Selimiye Mosque, Kurtköy Cemetery was given to the soil.
